The speed limit is 65 miles per hour for the majority of its length. This route is routinely patrolled but there are three major areas where the speed limit drops drastically:
Mount Hope - after passing the first traffic light at Maple Fork Avenue & Rt. 19, the highway drops down a steep hill. As you go down this long 9% grade, it is very easy to exceed the speed limit. The Mount Hope City police routinely set up radar on this hill and also patrol the next 3 miles.
Oak Hill - the speed limit drops to 55 mph for the next 5 miles & is patrolled regularly.
Fayetteville - Fayetteville aggressively & seriously patrols their 4 miles. The speed limit drops to 50 mph as the road drops down another steep, long hill. Expect to find Fayetteville police with radar parked on the side of the north bound lane.
